Icy Tower is a freeware video game by Swedish game developer Free Lunch Design. It is a platform game set in a tower, where the player's goal is to jump from one "floor" to the next and go as high as possible without falling and plunging off the screen. The higher the player's character climbs, the faster the tower's floors move downward and the harder the game becomes. By default, the player controls the character using a keyboard.

The player starts the game on the tower's ground floor. To climb the tower, the player must jump from floor to floor (default control: spacebar). The character can pass through the floors from below but lands on them when falling from above. Once the player has landed on a floor, they can move across its surface using the arrow keys. By moving across the floor, the player builds momentum for the next jump. The character can also bounce off the vertical walls on the left and right edges of the tower, allowing them to switch direction while maintaining momentum.
At the start of the game, the tower's floors are stationary. When the player reaches floor 5, the floors begin to move slowly downward. Every thirty seconds, the floors' downward speed increases and the game tells the player to "Hurry up!" If the player misses a floor and falls off the bottom of the screen, the game ends. It also ends if the player is standing on a floor that moves off the bottom of the screen.
On September 24, 2009, a Free Lunch Design game named Icy Tower Facebook (ITFB), developed on the Adobe Flash platform within the development framework of the Facebook social networking website, was released.[4][nb 4] It allows players to compare their results with results of their friends within the Facebook system. Players can also personalise their in-game avatars and unlock additional game levels (so-called towers) corresponding to various game styles in the PC version of Icy Tower by exchanging them for coins, the game's virtual currency.
On May 30, 2007, an official Icy Tower website operated by Free Lunch Design was launched, available at icytower.freelunchdesign.com.[nb 6] On June 3, 2009, the day of Icy Tower 1.4 release, an additional, complementary site has been opened at icytower.com.
Icy Tower 2 doesn't change the basic gameplay. You control Harold the Homeboy, and have to help him jump up the tower. Unlike the original, Harold now jumps automatically. You have to tilt the screen to move, and tilt harder to make Harold jump higher. It's an unusual control method, but surprisingly easy to pick up. The graphics are much better in Icy Tower 2, with a cartoon look not unlike the Angry Birds.
Icy Tower is a fun and addictive platform game with some original content. You attempt to climb up a slippery tower while jumping from platform to platform attempting to get as high as possible. In addition, the final end is not only how high you've gotten, but how many jumps it took. That means that the more effort you put into reaching your goal, the higher your score should be.This game is rather short, but in the end somewhat addictive. Icy Tower is a fun and short, yet addictive game where your only goal is to gain as much score as possible.
Download characters such as Bart Simpson, Sonic, Mario, Guybrush Threepwood, Kirby, a worm (PC Game Worms) or make up your own characters! It is an easy process and a lot of fun to see the character you designed in this game trying to scale the tower.
Icy Tower is a fun and challenging arcade game that will you have jumping from platform to platform as you race up an unbelievably tall tower. See how high you can make it or go for the largest score as you move further and further up. You can save and watch replays of your best attempts or find out where you messed up on bad ones. Adjust a variety of options to create an experience that's perfect for you in the Custom Mode. Best of all, it's completely free.
In Icy Tower, you start at the bottom of a tower and must work your way upwards by jumping from platform to platform. These platforms range from very wide to barely large enough to stand on. Each platform is a floor in the tower (so the 100th platform would be floor 100). As you make your way up the tower, the screen scrolls downward at an increasing rate. If you don't keep moving up the tower fast enough, the bottom will overtake you and the game will end.
While Icy Tower does not provide different levels or towers to play, it does offer two modes. The Classic Mode is the normal gameplay that has you jumping from platform to platform as the screen scrolls faster and faster. This mode also has a profile for your character that tracks things like largest jumps or combos, and has a rank for you based on your accomplishments. Your rank can be increased by meeting certain objectives (such as getting a 15 floor combo).
Cold Fire turns Flamethrower into a Freezing tower, which slows enemies by 25%, but removes the ability to apply burning effect. Also increases Damage by 25% to make up for the loss of the burning effect. If Cold fire slows enemies who are slowed by Freezing Tower already, the higher slow value will apply.
If used primarily for the freezing effect, it should not be upgraded and kept at upgrade level 0, because upgrading the tower does NOT increase its freezing effects. Experience Level, Napalm Ability and PWR, however, can lengthen the freezing duration.
Power boosts the duration of burn effect. This is situational if the rest of the damage tile are filled with other tower or if its in a large map. However if used as a attacking tower, it should not be placed near the base since it might not cover the entire duration before the enemy reaches the base.
Optimal 2 Abilities: Plasma Ignition/Cold Fire (used most of the time), Plasma Ignition/Napalm (If no freezing tower is nearby), Cold Fire/Napalm (used if flamethrower is upgrade level 0 meant for slow)
Napalm: should be obtained if used for attacking tower or if flamethrower is left at level 0 with cold fire, since Plasma Ignition is useless. +5% slow is a nice boost since upgrading flamethrower does not boost the slow whereas 50% burn duration is nice since it will provide a longer burn providing more damage output.
Icy Tower differs from many other games of its kind, as it is not only a timed game, but also has many hidden features and puzzles that will challenge you more as you progress through the game. For example, one of the challenges you will come across is the use of the grappling hook, allowing you to pull down towers which are higher up than you. Another is the ability to grapple and swing through the air, allowing you to quickly move about the environment and hit your opponents when they least expect it. It's these moments, which Icy Tower sometimes fails to give sufficient attention to, that make the game truly enjoyable.
Another aspect that sets Icy Tower apart from similar platform games is the use of an icy tower game mechanic, whereby you fall prey to an increasing level of speed as you continue to fall, eventually sliding off a large platform below you and sliding into an abyss. This is essentially the same mechanic used in the popular downloadable title, Sonic the Hedgehog, which is why Icy Tower feels a lot more complete as a game overall. Playing on an icy tower causes your speed to drop considerably, but the fact that you are falling is far less important than simply knowing where you're going; this is why Icy Tower manages to combine the platforming with the jumping aspect so well. 2ff7e9595c
